Governor Cuomo appoints Syracuse EOC Director to to State Fair advisory board
Friday, August 26, 2011

New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo on Thursday, August 25th, filled his appointments for an advisory board to the New York State Fair including Timothy Penix, vice president of the Syracuse Educational Opportunity Center at SUNY Morrisville.

As attorney general, Cuomo investigated officials at the state fair and ultimately charged a former director with misusing his position. In recommendations made in his last days as attorney general, Cuomo proposed re-establishing the fair's advisory board, which has not met since 2006.

The advisory board cannot approve or block policy at the fair. Instead, its job will be to review fair operations and make recommendations to the fair director, the commissioner of the Department of Agriculture and Markets, and the governor.
